EALLU Arctic Council Book Launch Countdown

Final preparations for the official launch of the SDWG Arctic Council EALLU project primary deliverable are underway in Fairbanks, Alaska. The ICR/WRH/EALLU team from Norway and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) are gathered in Fairbanks for the Arctic Council Ministerial meeting which takes place tomorrow May 10 -11th. The launch will take place at a side event to the Ministerial (see full programme here or below. The launch will feature reindeer meat tasting (2 Alaskan reindeer have been slaughtered for the event) with meat prepared by Sámi chef Nils Bendik Dunfjeld. This will be followed by a panel discussion with the following:

Mr Bruce Davis, Midnite Sun Reindeer Ranch

-Ms Ann Davis, Owner, Midnite Sun Reindeer Ranch

-Mr George Aguiar, Archipelago Farms

-Mr Mikhail Pogodaev, Executive Chair, Assoc. of World Reindeer Herders, Russia

-Mr Johan Mathis Turi, Secretary General, Assoc. of World Reindeer Herders, Norway

-Representatives from Stevens Village Reindeer/Bison Farm

This will be followed by the official book launch by Anders Oskal, ICR Director and short presentations by book authors including Alena Gerasimova, Svetlana Avelova, Mikhail Pogodaev, Carolina Behe (ICC Alaska) and Suanne Unger (AIA) and others. 

The books are ‘hot off the presses’ (beautifully printed by Paulsen publishing in Moscow) and a large number have been brought to Fairbanks for the meeting. See the growing gallery of the EALLU Arctic Council preparations here.
