Rain on snowIn the end of spring NASA announced winners of the grant who will participate in the research entitled “Satellite Rain-On-Snow Detection: A New Climate Change Product”, the International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry is of them.

The ICR Executive Director, Anders Oskal, and the Vice-Rector of the Sami University College, Inger Marie Gaup Eira, will participate from the Sami reindeer herders community to both help validate ground observations/measurements, as well as help disseminate data and results to the reindeer herding community, and collaborate with other project’s team in the planning etc.

This project is a very good opportunity for NASA, ICR, Sami University College and other international project’s team to collaborate in creation a useful and unique mechanism for dealing with rapid climate changes in the Arctic.
