This was not the first time that the Association of  World Reindeer Herders (WRH) has been here. Mikhail Pogodaev, Anders Oskal, Sergey Kharyuchi, Inger Anita Smuk and Nechey Serotetto gave presentations to YAPAT students about world reindeer husbandry, the projects implemented by WRH together with the International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry, about the upcoming project on the Northern sea route and access to the market.

ICR chair of the Board and reindeer herder Inger Anita Smuk told students about the difficulties faced by the reindeer herders in the industrial slaughtering of reindeer, when 60% of the total reindeer goes to waste. This significant percentage includes products such as most of the intestines, head, hooves, etc. Moreover, in traditional culture all these products can be used and eaten.
