Welcome to an open Arctic Seminar at Harvard University and International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry in the Memory of the late professor Jim McCarthy Friday 29th January at:11:30am - 12:30pm. McCarthy died sadly in December more that 1 year ago. The picture of McCarthy with our team is from Finland some years ago working in Arctic Council. This week International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry and Harvard University hold a one week seminar in the Memory of the late professor. dr Jim McCarthy. 30 Indigenous student from Reublic of Sakha Yakutia, Yamal, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Greenland, Canada and Alaska have particiapted every day by zoom. The James J. McCarthy Leadership Seminar Series for Future Arctic Indigenous Leaders 2021
Training seminar for talented and emerging Arctic indigenous leaders,
in memory of Professor James J McCarthy and his strong dedication to the Arctic.
A joint effort by the Arctic Initiative at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, the Association of World Reindeer Herders (WRH), the International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry (ICR), Arctic Council Indigenous Peoples Secretariat and the UArctic EALÁT Institute, building on earlier cooperation and outcomes.
The seminar will build on recent progress in the fields of resilience, adaptation and leadership, with the purpose of providing competence and confidence building for Arctic indigenous youth for a more sustainable future in the Arctic and beyond.
