On November 29 - December 3 the International Seminar of the  Arctic Council EALLU project will take place in the city of Salekhard.

The seminar will be attended by representatives of the International Center for Reindeer Herding, members of the Board of the Association of World Reindeer Herders, indigenous youth from the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, as well as from Norway and Sweden.

The seminar is being held to exchange information, experience, and knowledge among Arctic indigenous communities. The emphasis is on existing traditional knowledge, indigenous languages, food culture, and the study of local traditional practices and knowledge.

The program of the event includes sessions, workshops, and discussions, as well as a trip to the camp to demonstrate to representatives of indigenous youth the traditional approach to organizing daily life, including food. In addition, a Lavvu Dialogue will be held for the participants, during which they will share their knowledge of the food system in their communities and show them in practice.

The key event of the seminar will be the presentation of the EALLU project with a tasting of dishes prepared by young chefs from among the indigenous peoples living in the reindeer-herding regions of the Arctic. The presentation will take place within the framework of the meeting of the Committee of Senior Officials of the Arctic Council, which will be held at the same time in Salekhard.

The Arctic Council  EALLU project aims to preserve the unique Arctic food culture knowledge system. Its practical value lies in the active participation of young representatives of indigenous peoples, which helps to strengthen their potential: having gained knowledge and experience here, they will be able to make personal contribution to the development of the economy of local communities.

The international seminar is held by the Department of External Relations of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug with the participation of the Association of World Reindeer Herders, under the chairmanship of the Russian Federation in the Arctic Council.
