Session on NOMAD Indigenous FoodLab at the Arctic Circle Assemlby 2023 was held today October 20 in Reykjavik with Indigenous representatives, youth and experts. 

Anders Oskal from International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry (ICR)  and World Reindeer Herders (WRH) presented the project and talked about innovative opportunities in Arctic Indigenous food systems. 
NOMAD Indigenous FoodLab is a project led by for communicating information about Arctic food resources, develop new innovations and train future food leaders.This new type of a Food Lab is also a nomadic tent and mobile kitchen with a youth profile made to inspire Indigenous peoples of the Arctic, reindeer herders, where the focus is on accelerating and stimulating innovation development of new products and businesses, understanding things in new ways and combining innovation and traditional indigenous knowledge on food.

The session was moderated by Jennifer Spence from the Arctic Initiative Harvard University, and session included Indigenous youth panelist who shared their perspectives on traditional food and innovations, representatives from Arctic Athabaskan Council, Inuit Circumpolar Council and experts from the Arctic region reflected on statements from young Indigenous peoples.  The aim of the session was to also to discuss different measures to overcome challenges in the Arctic and inspire Indigenous peoples with the example of the NOMAD Indigenous FoodLab.
