Karen Anna and her siida 2Film premiere and opening of exhibition called BUOT IEŽAN BOHCCUID DOVDDAN Karen Anna ja su siida 1986-2020 (translated from Northern Sami – ALL MY REINDEER I KNOW, Karen Anna and her siida 1986-2020) took place yesterday at the Nord-Troms Museum in Northern Norway.

Karen Anna is filmed in her daily life in Kautokeino. In the film, she shares thoughts and reflections on her many years of life as a female reindeer herder. Karen Anna's granddaughter, Ánne Kátjá Nilsdatter Gaup, has filmed and made clips, Grete Kvaal has been responsible for directing.

The exhibition consists of 36 selected black and white photographs from the years 1986-1993. With pictures from more than 30 years ago and films from 2020, the audience will experience women in reindeer husbandry over a longer period of time.

The quote was used in the book "Karen Anna and her siida" (2001), and here is the whole quote:

"All my reindeer I know and know exactly how each animal behaves.
I know that the female uses to be first in the herd,
or that the female uses to be last.
And that bull, he can run away. "

Congratulations on your exhibition, Karen Anna Gaup, Grete Andrea Kvaal and Ánne Kátjá Gaup!!!Karen Anna and her siida 1
