The International Indian Treaty Council invites Indigenous food producers, knowledge and rights holders to an Indigenous Peoples Multi-regional Virtual Consultation in preparation for the United Nations Food Systems Summit

The United Nations Food Systems Summit will be convened by the UN Secretary General during the 76th session of the UN General Assembly Session in September 2021. It will bring together food producers, UN bodies and agencies and States to propose solutions to eliminate hunger and build sustainable food systems now and in the future. IITC has called for the full and effective participation of Indigenous traditional food producers (farmers, fishers, gatherers, hunters and pastoralists) to present their concerns, challenges and time-tested solutions for the resiliency and restoration of their food systems. Recently IITC was asked by Summit organizers to host a Global Consultation for Indigenous food producers to discuss recommendations for inclusion in the Summit’s outcome document. We agreed in the hope that Indigenous food producers, practitioners, youth, elders and knowledge holders will come together to make their voices heard at this critical moment for the health and survival of the human family and the planet as a whole.
Free webinar is held on May 29th, 2021 8:00 pm- 11:30 pm (PDT)
