Sámi allaskuvla (Sámi University of Applied Sciences) and International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry (ICR) have collaborated to create the book "From the Past to the Future: Knud Leem's 1725 Account and 300 Years of Sámi Reindeer Herding Knowledge". The book was edited by Dr. Inger Marie Gaup Eira, Prof. Svein D. Mathiesen and ICR director Anders Oskal is to be published in November 2024, deals with both Knud Leem's accounts from 1725 and three centuries of knowledge about Sámi reindeer husbandry.

A significant part of the book includes a modernized edition of Knud Leem's work from 1767, "Beskrivelse over Finmarkens Lapper, deres Tungemaal, Levemaade og forrige Afgudsdyrkelse, oplyst ved mange Kaabberstykker". This work is a detailed description of the Sámi language, way of life and previous religious practices, illustrated with copper engravings. In the new edition, Leem's text is written in today's orthography, which makes the content more accessible to modern readers and Sámi words are written in today's orthography.

The book helps to shed light on both historical and current Sámi knowledge of reindeer husbandry, and provides a unique insight into Sámi culture and its development over time.
