The Global-Hub on Indigenous Peoples’ food systems is meeting at FAO Headquarters from the 14th to the 18th of October 2024. Alongside this meeting, a Saami Indigenous Nomadic Tent for advocacy activities and events will also be set up: an Indigenous territory in the heart of Rome!

The Global-Hub pioneers new ways in which knowledge is created. Gathering Indigenous and non-Indigenous researchers, it brings at the same level of respect academic and Indigenous Peoples’ knowledge. The latter is often disregarded by the scientific community and by policy makers, but it enshrines the game-changing solutions the world needs to face modern challenges, from climate change to the sustainable transformation of food systems.

Several activities will take place on the margins of the meeting of the Global-Hub. One of the two Saami Indigenous Nomadic Tents that are travelling to Rome will be entirely dedicated to talks, events, exhibitions, food and music, all with an Indigenous taste. These event will include 8 TENT Talks, where world-class experts will present a burning topic in 10-minutes long passionate interventions, and 4 Fire Talks, intimate moments of discussion on Indigenous Peoples issues around the sacred fire.

The Indigenous Nomadic tent will also host activities aimed at advocating on topics such as the impacts of ultra-processed foods on Indigenous Peoples’ diets, the impacts of the energy transition on Indigenous Peoples and territories, Indigenous Peoples' biocentric restoration, and more.
